Around 90% of the people that are involved in an auto accident that was not their fault don’t hire a personal injury attorney. Some people are hurt and even go to the doctor seeking medical attention and don’t even contact the other drivers insurance company. There is a whole other category of uninformed victims that actually call the at fault drivers insurance company and attempt to handle everything on their own. I’ve hired many former employees of large insurance companies over the years that tell me they were given names of people that were not at fault in the car wreck but wanted to talk to the adjuster regarding their claim. Most said they had a limited time to call everyone of those people back to ensure the insurance company kept control. You see, the insurance company does not want you to get an attorney so you will be at the mercy of a trained adjuster whose sole job is to pay you as little as possible and get you to sign a release. Some insurance adjusters offer injured people $500 or some other nominal amount within days of their accident to see if they can get out “cheap.” Often, the symptoms of injuries from a car accident take time to develop. If you sign a release the case is over. Often Insurance adjusters will offer to pay your medical bills but pay only a partial amount and leave the rest of the bills for you to pay. It is never too late to hire a personal injury attorney. If you try to negotiate with the at fault parties insurance company and they attempt to double-talk or delay you, hire a personal injury attorney immediately before it is too late. Usually In the state of Texas you have two years from the date of the accident to file suit or your claim is forever barred.
